According to TSN 1040’s Dave Tomlinson, Bo Horvat has accepted the invitation from Team Canada to play at the World Hockey Championships in Denmark.
As Tomlinson said in the tweet, Horvat had accepted the invitation days ago but didn’t want to overshadow the Sedins announced retirement. It’s a move that is, well, eerily Sedin-like.
That Team Canada wanted Horvat isn’t overly surprising. If it weren’t for ongoing contract negotiations, Horvat likely would’ve suited up for Team Canada at last year’s tournament in France and Germany.
In 64 games with the Canucks this season, Horvat notched 44 points, with 22 goals and assists alike. Horvat’s 22 goals mark a career-high, beating his previous best of 20 last season — an impressive feat given he played 17 fewer games.
This year’s World Championships start May 4th and go to May 20th. Canada’s first game is on May 4th, against the USA.
