On yesterday’s episode of Canucks Conversation, David Quadrelli and Harman Dayal blind ranked all-time Canucks skaters and goaltenders.
Blind ranking is ranking someone or something without knowing the full list of candidates. In Quads’ and Harm’s case, show producer Grady Sas created a list of Canucks he would present them with, and they had to designate that player a spot on their list before knowing who the next player would be.
First player up was Markus Naslund, who was given spot 3. Next was Pavel Bure, who is viewed by the guys’ as Vancouer’s unquestioned GOAT, and was accordingly given the number 1 spot. The 3rd player presented was Quinn Hughes, who got spot 2.
“By the end of it, Quinn Hughes might end up being the greatest Canuck of all-time,” Harm chimed in.
Next was Daniel Sedin, who was given spot 4. Finally came Henrik Sedin, who was designated to the last spot with none others remaining. The list came out like this:
  1. Pavel Bure
  2. Quinn Hughes
  3. Markus Naslund
  4. Daniel Sedin
  5. Henrik Sedin
Both Harman and Quads were disgusted that their final list had the Sedins so low, but that’s the nature of blind ranking!
The guys then got to the goalies. Dan Cloutier was the first candidate, and with some lingering caution from the first blind rank, he was given spot 5.
Next came Thatcher Demko, and after some deliberation with the assumption Kirk McLean would be in the list somewhere, was given spot 3.
McLean did in fact appear next and was assigned number 2, followed by Richard Brodeur to the number 4 spot.
Finally, Roberto Luongo appeared to take his spot at number 1 on the all-time Canucks’ goalies list, which ended like this:
  1. Roberto Luongo
  2. Kirk McLean
  3. Thatcher Demko
  4. Richard Brodeur
  5. Dan Cloutier
