We are less than a week away from the World Junior Championships, where the Canucks will have three prospects in attendance at the international competition of the top U20 players in the world.

Elias Pettersson and Jonathan Lekkerimäki will play for Sweden while Aku Koskenvuo is battling for the starting role in the Finnish crease.

Some teams went through a slow week in the NCAA and in European leagues but we’ve got all your Canucks prospect updates here.

Let’s get to what happened this past week in the world of Canucks prospects.

We don’t have much to report on about Pettersson or Lekkerimäki. The two Swedes have arrived in Halifax for the World Junior Championships and are skating and working out with Sweden ahead of the WJC.

There are some highlights from other Swedish prospects, let’s start with right winger Lucas Forsell.

He put up an assist in an Allsvenskan game.

We also saw a Champions League goal from right-shot defenceman Filip Johansson.

Left-shot defenceman Joni Jurmo scored another goal in Liiga this week.

The 20-year-old, 6’4″ defenceman is now up to two goals and five assists in 27 Liiga games this season.

Jurmo also picked up an assist this week.

Goaltender Aku Koskenvuo played in Finland’s pre-tournament loss to the USA. Koskenvuo made some nice saves along the way but ended up allowing five goals in the loss.

Koskenvuo getting the first start of the pre-tournament play should be looked at as a positive, especially as it was against a strong team like the USA.

Connor Lockhart only played in one game last week after coming off a suspension. He made his presence felt early as he put up four assists in an 8-2 win over the Hamilton Bulldogs in the OHL.

Aidan McDonough scored a goal in a 4-3 overtime win. He is still sitting in the top-10 of NCAA scoring.

19-year-old Danila Klimovich had a pair of points in three games this week. He scored another goal on Wednesday and is now up to four goals and seven assists in 20 games — including eight points in his last nine games.
