It’s Thursday, so you know what that means. One more day till Friday!
Also, it means that we get another edition of everyone’s favourite prospect report, Blackfish.
This week didn’t have any skaters with standout performances but a certain netminder had a great week. The Utica Comets are starting to get healthy and hopefully will get themselves out of the struggles and back trending upwards. There have been some prospects playing well but having the team firing on all cylinders will do great things.
As always, the images below all come from Elite Prospects.
Let’s look at the week that was for Canucks prospects!

Canada

WHL

alt
  • Jett Woo returned to Moose Jaw from the Canada/Russia series and put up one goal and one assist in two games with the Warriors. His goal from this past week

OHL

alt
  • Matt Brassard has continued to slow down with only one goal over the past two games this week. Oshawa is in the mix for a playoff spot, and obviously early, but it will be interesting to see how they handle him prior to the deadline.
  • Michael Dipietro has officially caught fire. He made 18 saves for Team OHL in their 3-1 win over Russia and then went back to Windsor where he let in two goals in two games, posting a 0.96 GAA and 0.969 SV%. He was named the CHL goaltender of the Week for his efforts.

United States

USHL

alt
  • On the other side of the coin, Thiessen continues to have a bit of struggles. He did appear in one game this past week that saw him make 18 saves in a 3-2 shootout loss.

NCAA

alt
  • Tyler Madden has leaped to the front of the NCAA prospect scoring for Canucks players. He had one goal and three assists over two games this past weekend. He continues to be their first line centre with first powerplay unit time. Great to see that after a bit of a lull in production, he was able to burst out again this weekend.
  • Quinn Hughes had two assists over two games this past week.
  • Lockwood was able to put up one goal and one assist over the two Michigan games this past week. Like Madden, saw a little slowdown in production in previous weeks but has been rewards with the two points over the last seven days.
  • Rathbone was limited to one assist in Harvard’s two games this past week. But is still standing out in quite a few categories when comparing them to other NCAA freshmen.

Europe

Russia

alt
  • Artyom Manukyan sits at 11 points in 28 games, after being held off the scoresheet in two games this past week.
  • Nikita Tryamkin appeared in one game this past week after returning from a minor injury. He was able to posts two assists in that contect.

Finland

alt
  • Toni Utunen appeared in two games for Tappara and was unable to register a point.

Sweden

alt
  • Gunnarsson was held off the scoresheet in the two games he played in this week.

Czech Republic

alt
  • Zhukenov did not play any games this week.

AHL

alt
  • Since our last update, the Comets signed Alex Kile and Tony Cameranesi to PTO contracts.
  • Adam Gaudette and Alex Biega are up with the Canucks.
  • Reid Boucher returned to the Comets lineup yesterday.
  • As always Comets Cory has you covered for everything Comets – check them out here.
  • Thatcher Demko is getting closer to making his return.

ECHL

  • At this moment, the Canucks have no prospects in the ECHL.
