Blackfish: CanucksArmy Prospect Report – December 16, 2019
By Brett Lee
4 years agoIt was a quiet week for Canucks prospects as many teams are already on their winter breaks. However, Aidan McDonough and Northeastern made some noise this week and Kole Lind and the Utica Comets went 2-2.
CHL
- Carson Focht scored against Lethbridge while registering 7 shots on net.
- Jett Woo had a primary assist on the power-play to give him 16 points in 30 games. He has 2 goals and 4 assists in his last 10 games.
- Ethan Keppen scored twice this week giving him a goal in three consecutive games.
- Arturs Silovs was pulled for the second time in consecutive weeks. He allowed 4 goals on 20 shots and then played the next night allowing 7 goals on 40 shots.
NCAA
- Aidan McDonough had a monster 4-point performance this week. 11 of his 15 points have come from the man-advantage.
- Tyler Madden heads into the winter break with an NCAA leading 13 goals.
- The rest of Vancouver’s collegiate prospects are already on their breaks.
- Will Lockwood and Michigan will be taking part in the Great Lakes Invitational on December 30 and 31st.
Russia
- Nothing new happening in Russia, although something I missed last week was Nikita Tryamkin riding a 3 game point streak with 3 assists.
Sweden
- Rogle and Hoglander did not play this week, nor did Arvid Costmar and Linkoping.
Czech
- Karel Plasek was re-called to the Extraliga and suited up for 1 game, but didn’t make his way onto the scoresheet.
Finland
- Petrus Palmu did not suit up for any of JYP’s games this week. I don’t see any injury reports online so I’m not quite sure why that is the case.
- Toni Utunen went pointless in 2 games.
AHL
- Kole Lind started the week with a 3 point effort against Bridgeport and followed it up with another 2 points against Toronto. He was then held scoreless in Utica’s next 2 games.
- Brogan Rafferty had a 6(!) point week including a 1 goal, 2 assist effort against Bridgeport. He looks extremely dangerous and poised with the puck right now. His 22 points in 28 games is second in the entire AHL for defencemen.
- Lukas Jasek had an offensive outburst with 3 goals and 2 assists this week.
- Guillaume Brisebois had 2 goals and 1 assist.
- Olli Juolevi was held pointless and was a combined -4 while collecting 9 shots on net.
Note: Apologies for not getting this article up yesterday. That was a unique occurrence and very rarely should these pieces stray from being posted on Sundays.
