The Canucks Army Betway Bets of the Day articles are back! And while there’s no Vancouver Canucks game to bet on, we have 10 games for us to bet on for this Thursday night slate.
What better way to start it off than betting on a former Canuck?
Today’s expected goaltender matchups for our highlighted games:
The Montreal Canadiens’ Sam Montembeault (16-15-7) vs. The New York Islanders’ Semyon Varlamov (12-8-4).
The Philadelphia Flyers’ Samuel Ersson (21-18-7) vs. The New York Rangers’ (18-5-2).
The Ottawa Senators Anton Forsberg (13-12) vs. The Tampa Bay Lightning’s Matt Tomkins (2-2).

Bo Horvat Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-163)

A $15.00 bet would return $24.23.
Bo Horvat has cleared this line in four straight games, averaging 4.3 shots on 5.5 shot attempts. He is clearing at a 62% clip on home ice this season, averaging 3.3 shots on 5.5 shot attempts. If we take Horvat’s season home ice average of 5.5 shot attempts and bring that down to 5.0, he’s cleared in all but one game this season. Let’s get Horvat to that magic number tonight.
Against the Canadiens, Horvat has cleared in five straight games, averaging 4.0 shots on 6.4 shot attempts. Montreal allows the fourth most shots on goal (11.8) to centres per game. The Canadiens have been the third most undisciplined team all season, averaging 3.4 powerplay opportunities against per game.
With the help of our friends over at Hockeyviz, we can see exactly where Horvat shoots on the powerplay and compare that to where Montreal allows most of their shots on the powerplay.
The dark brown areas are the high-volume areas. They allow most of their shots in front of the net and at the top of the right faceoff circle.
The blue and red squares and circles are where Horvat gets his shots off. Just like he did in Vancouver, Horvat thrives in the bumper and net front position.

Adam Fox Assist (-134)

A $10.00 bet would return $17.50.
Adam Fox, the assist man himself! He has nine assists in seven of his last 10 games. Fox is currently on a seven-home-game assist streak, including one in his most recent game against the Flyers.
This is an excellent matchup for Fox tonight as the Rangers average the most goals for (4.3) in their last 10 games, and the Flyers average the most goals against (4.7) in that same span.

Ottawa Senators / Tampa Bay Lightning Over 6.5 (-125)

A $10.00 bet would return $18.00.
In a game with Forsberg and Tomkins as the starting goalies, it’s hard not to run immediately to the over.
Forsberg has a 3.36 goals against average and an .885 save percentage this season. Tomkins, who is much more inexperienced, has a 3.56 goals against average and an .883 save percentage in his four starts this season.
Historically, these teams know how to find the back of the net. They have exceeded this total in six of their last seven games, averaging 8.1 goals per match.
