Analyzing the Daily Faceoff Draft Guide: Sedin’s provide underrated fantasy hockey value

Hockey season is fast approaching, which means fantasy hockey players are furiously trying to do their homework looking for any edge to win that coveted hockey pool championship.
There has been a trend in the last couple seasons of the Sedin’s being available in the middle rounds of fantasy hockey pools which is after years of being amongst the most coveted players in the league. Each year, it seems that they drop another round or two. Other teams in your pool may under value the twins, thinking that they are trending downwards on a team that had an anemic offence last season. This year, you can use that to your advantage.
There is no doubt that Henrik and Daniel Sedin are approaching the last few years of the career, but there are a variety of factors that led to an ‘off year’ last season, that likely won’t happen again. The Canucks signed Swedish winger Loui Eriksson to play alongside the twins this year, so it’s safe to assume that they will likely see the same production as they did last season, if not see an increase.
Henrik was injured for a good portion of the season, and never seemed quite right. Unless he gets injured in the World Cup (*knock on wood*), he enters the season fully healthy. With Henrik healthy, Daniel will only be better given that he doesn’t have to carry his line mates. Given the Canucks roster, it’s also a fair expectation that they will continue to be first liners, thus they will get the minutes needed to produce.
Depending on how your pool is structured, they also provide other value including face-off wins and power play points.
In the DailyFaceoff Draft Kit, Henrik Sedin is ranked 36th amongst centres, and Daniel is ranked 12th amongst left wingers. Which is likely fairly ranked, but that means that both will be available in the nitty-gritty middle rounds, where hockey pools are won.

So, as a savvy Canucks fan, you know these factors will result in the Sedin twins seeing the same production, if not an increase and thus giving you an advantage. The guide also provides some suggestions on who in the Canucks youth movement is worth taking a gamble on.
