<p>After four seasons within the Flyers organization, the 6’2, 198 lbs forward was selected by the Seattle Kraken in the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft. While he never saw any games in Seattle, he spent one year with the Coachella Valley Firebirds (AHL) before heading overseas to play in the ICEHL league (Austria) for the start of the 2023-24 campaign. There, he suited up in 27 games, contributing six goals and 13 points.</p>
<p>His stint in Austria was short-lived, and after his contract was terminated shortly after Christmas, he returned to the AHL for the second half of the year. In January 2024, Twarynski signed a prorated deal with the Bridgeport Islanders, marking his fifth team in as many years.</p>
<p><a href="https://canucksarmy.com/news/cas-top-20-vancouver-canucks-prospect-rankings-9-melvin-fernstrom">Twarynski joins Abbotsford</a> as an AHL journeyman, having played 276 AHL games and contributed 44 goals, 46 assists (90 points), and 165 penalty minutes. He has also added eight points (five goals, three assists) across 35 playoff games.</p>
<p>Before turning professional, Twarynski played four WHL seasons, split between the Calgary Hitmen and Kelowna Rockets. He compiled 88 goals and 192 points in 257 games and 15 points across 41 playoff games. Twarynski is now the sixth WHL alum on the current Abbotsford roster for the 2024-25 season.</p>
<p>Known more for his energy and defensive style than his scoring, he brings a high motor and physicality to the ice. At 26, he also adds valuable veteran experience to an otherwise youthful group down on the farm.</p>
<p>The Abbotsford Canucks open their regular season on October 11th in Calgary and won&#8217;t make their home debut until October. 25th, where they host the San Diego Gulls.</p>
