A familiar face will be in Abbotsford this season.
On Friday, the Abbotsford Canucks announced that they had signed forward Kole Lind to a one-year AHL contract, along with 25-year-old forward Sean Chisholm. The club also announced their opening night roster.
Lind, who turns 28 this month, was the Canucks’ 33rd overall selection at the 2017 NHL Draft. After four years with the Canucks’ then-farm team, the Utica Comets — along with a brief seven-game taste of NHL action in 2020-21 — Lind was the Seattle Kraken’s choice in the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft. Lind has spent the last two seasons playing exclusively in the AHL and signed a PTO (professional tryout contract) with the Tampa Bay Lightning last month. The Lightning released Lind from his PTO, once again making him an unrestricted free agent. Now, he’s back where it all began (though Lind has never actually played a game for the Abbotsford Canucks).
Lind is a solid addition for Abbotsford, as despite not being able to stake his claim at the NHL level, he’s been able to put up a good number of points in the AHL. Last year was a down season for Lind, but before that, he put up 52 points in 71 games with Texas in 2024-25 and 65 points in 69 games in 2023-24.
As for the Canucks’ other signing, Sean Chisholm, he’s a left-shot forward hailing from Caledonia, Ontario, who tallied six points in 51 games for the AHL Texas Stars last season after signing out of Dartmouth College at the tail end of the 2024-25 season.
The Abbotsford Canucks kick off their season tonight in Calgary against the Wranglers, and both players are on the club’s opening night roster. Here is the Abbotsford Canucks’ full roster:
