With the 2015 entry draft rapidly approaching and our own draft coverage about to kick off in the very near future, it’s important to have an idea of what the scouting world generally thinks about a certain player. While everyone has their own personal opinions, it’s always good to get a consensus to help iron out any significant outliers.
As such, our friend MoneyPuck went through a variety of different draft rankings to compile this year’s consensus top-90 draft-eligible prospects, according to the scouting community. Click past the jump to see the list.
While other consensus rankings have a component that considers the final accuracy or the rankings in terms of who goes where, this exercise is simply meant as a barometer of what the industry (at least the part of the industry that operates in the public sphere) thinks of a certain player. Consensus rank is simply an average of a variety of different rankings from services such as NHL Central Scouting Services, International Scouting Services, Future Considerations, ESPN (Corey Pronman), TSN (Craig Button and Bob McKenzie), Hockey Prospect, and McKeen’s Hockey. The list is as follows:

Some brief observations:
- Oliver Kylington is at 23rd. The Canucks pick 23rd. Oh my god there’s actually a chance.
- Jack Roslovic could be a bit of a sleeper pick. PCS really likes him, and he’s quietly been creeping up draft boards for a while now. It wouldn’t surprise me to see someone step up and take him late in the first round.
- It doesn’t appear to be a great year for European development leagues, as only four players ranked in the first round did not play in North America this past year: Mikko Rantanen, Joel Eriksson Ek, Oliver Kylington, and Denis Guryanov. That being said, the CHL is pretty laden with talented imports this season.
- At first glance, I think guys like Jens Looke, the Finnish Sebastian Aho, and Rasmus Andersson are underrated here, while Lawson Crouse, Colin White, and Brandon Carlo are all a bit overrated. We’ll get into this discussion later though.
- Other Canucks Army favourites ranked later than 23rd: Daniel Sprong (27), Anthony Beauvillier (29), Jack Roslovic (32), Nicholas Meloche (39), Ryan Pilon (42), and Rasmus Andersson (49).
We’ll unveil our own draft rankings and begin profiling players very soon, so keep your eyes peeled!
