August is always a tough month for hockey fans. The start of the regular season is still a ways off yet a lot of the hype and excitement from free agency and the NHL Entry Draft has worn off. Historically, it’s been a very slow month of the year for the Canucks, although they did buck that trend with the Pius Suter signing this year.
This year, hockey fans across the NHL have found a different way to entertain themselves during these long summer months. PuckDoku, the hockey quiz game, has taken the league by storm. The official Puckdoku Twitter account now has more than 8000 followers and the game has spread quickly as users share their results on social media.
The way that the game works is that you’re presented with a 3 x 3 grid. Each column or row has a team, statistical feat, or characteristic assigned to it. You must pick players that match both categories in each of the nine boxes. You get nine shots to fill out the nine boxes. guess wrong, and you lose one of your shots, meaning that you can no longer fill out every box. You’ll also be given a score that displays how unique your submission was. Users like competing against each other to see who can get the rarest scores.
The key to doing well in Puckdoku is to know lots of obscure players that played for a large number of teams. We’ve assembled a list of 20 players that played for a lot of teams across the NHL including the Canucks. Hopefully at least one of the players on this list will help you next time you’re stuck on a PuckDoku square.

Not only will Petit fit in a ton of the different square combinations, he also is not the most well-known player, usually resulting a strong rarity score.

Mathieu Schneider – 10 NHL teams

Mathieu Schneider played an astonishing 21 seasons in the NHL. Over this long career, he did his fair share of bouncing around the league, ending his career after playing for a total of ten teams. There is unfortunately quite a bit of overlap between the teams that Schneider and Petit played for.

J.J Daigneault – 10 NHL teams
