The Canucks will fire up talks with Boeser&#8217;s camp this coming week, according to a Friday <a href="https://theathletic.com/3309739/2022/05/13/boudreau-kuzmenko-staff-changes-what-were-hearing-about-the-canucks-offseason-priorities/">report from Thomas Drance and Rick Dhaliwal of The Athletic</a>.

According to Drance and Dhaliwal, the Canucks are unlikely to use that tactic at this time, and are likely to qualify him if an extension can’t be agreed upon beforehand.
Drance and Dhaliwal added that they get the sense the Canucks would like to sign Boeser to a three-year deal at a reduced cap hit, even if it means that Boeser will be a UFA at the time of the deal&#8217;s expiration.
Boeser, 25, is coming off a bit of a disappointing season, but as he made clear at his end of season media availability, the forward was dealing with the emotional burden of his father Duke’s declining health all season long, which weighed quite heavily on him throughout the year.
