The Vancouver Canucks have officially lost both of their second round draft choices from the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.
Forward Jonah Gadjovich was claimed off waivers by the San Jose Sharks this morning, according to a report from Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.
Gadjovich’s biggest issue was his skating, and he addressed that concern over the offseason, looking significantly lighter and quicker on his skates during this training camp and preseason.
“They’re all tough decisions,” said head coach Travis Green yesterday. “I thought he worked hard on his skating last summer. I think he’s still got to work on that, but you can say that about a bunch of guys. He’s a great kid, I think he had a decent camp. Every decision — it’s not easy.”
Gadjovich scored 15 goals and added three assists in 19 AHL games last season, and appeared in one NHL game.
At 22 years old, Gadjovich has a knack for scoring goals in close and will look to get his NHL career off the ground in San Jose.
