Plays of the Week: July 30th-August 5th

Hockey in August?! Hockey in August. It’s been a long off-season, but nothing like pre-World Junior mini tournament to get us excited for the upcoming year. As you’ve probably noticed, our own Ryan Biech was hard at work covering the event. 4 Canucks prospects attended the Summer Showcase in Plymouth: Jonah Gadjovich, Michael DiPietro, and Kole Lind for Canada, and Elias Pettersson for Sweden. Will Lockwood was there as well, but didn’t play as he’s recovering from shoulder surgery. Miss an article? I’ve got you covered with our Plays of the Week!

Canucks News This Week

  • Ragnarok Ouroboros

Canucks prospects did not have a particularly good showing during the World Junior Mini Tournament. I was definitely expecting more out of Pettersson. Overall, I was disappointed.

    • Canucks Realist

Disapponment is an understatement Raggy, the kid was cr@p and looks so undersized it’s not even funny, but hardly surprising seeing as Benning’s draft legacy is gonna be Virtanen, McCann, Juolevi and Pettersson. A pi$$ poor showing compared to the likes of Linden, Bure, Ohlund, Kesler, the Sedins and Bo Horvat from previous GM’s. Time for a pink slip for old Jimbo methinks.

I was a little disappointed Petterssen didn’t show more but he certainly didn’t look bad. Dipietro looked fine and Gadjovich was better than I expected. All 3, I believe, can represent their countries again next year.
