Canucks recall Taylor Fedun from Utica Comets

Nov 21, 2015, 19:27 ESTUpdated:

It looks like the Canucks are undergoing yet another injury driven roster shuffle on the point, as the team recalled defenceman Taylor Fedun from the Utica Comets this afternoon.
Fedun’s recall adds to initial concerns that Ben Hutton’s lower-body injury, suffered against Winnipeg when blocking a shot, might be worse than most initially expected. If so, it would be sizable blow to the team, as Hutton has been a breath of fresh air offensively for an aging defensive lineup.
At the same time, the Canucks are in the midst of a back-to-back. Perhaps they feel better playing it safe rather than sorry, given how early it is into the 22-year-old’s pro career. Having Fedun around as insurance if anybody else gets hurt against the Blackhawks isn’t the worst idea.
Besides, Fedun is off to a deserving start to his season. In fourteen games, he’s taken a team-leading 41 shots, with two leading to goals. He also has eight penalty minutes and a +6 rating over that time, the later of which also leads Utica players. CHLStats.com estimates Fedun as Utica’s most-deployed defenceman, with John Negrin being his most frequent partner.
