Headshots October 20th

Roberto Luongo’s New Mask. I like it.

Headshots are a Canucksarmy feature where we link to the days freshest news, and other assorted Canucks web-goodies. If you’ve written a blogpost, made a tribute video or birthed a clever .gif into existence – please e-mail me at thom.drance@gmail.com.

Mikael Samuelsson is out of the line-up tonight, he’s still sore from his May surgery which is definitely concerning. The silver lining: Sami Salo on PP1!

Assistant GM Laurence Gillman defends Roberto Luongo. Choice line: "If he ever does leave, people here will get a real dose of reality really quick." Canucks fans forced to confront reality? Not likely.

Daniel Wagner with a good take on the Canucks re-arranged defensive pairs. I’m personally pretty fond of how Bieksa and Ballard played as a pairing on Tuesday, stoked to see them again tonight.

GIF BREAK: Kevin Bieksa presents Rypien’s sweater to the crowd pre-game on Tuesday night (Via Sedin Twins).

Ben Kuzma calls calls out the Canucks "toothless" power-play. Meanwhile Barry Trotz calls the Vancouver power-play "something to fear." Advantage Trotz.

Our pal the stanchion formally throws his hat into the ring of the Province’s "Replace the KB" bloggers contest. He’d be a great choice! I went to intrade.com to bet on him, but they’re not taking bets on the eventual winner. Sucks.

The best part about playing Nashville tonight? No it’s not getting to watch future Canucks captain Shea Weber in action… It’s getting to chirp at, and chat with the Preds bloggers on twitter come puck drop. The Preds fans combine what is best about knowledgeable hockey fans with a unique brand of Southern politeness. Out of that, they have created for themselves an absolute beauty of a fan-base in a non-traditional market. There’s nothing not awesome about it. Anyway, here’s a game-preview from the Godfather of Preds bloggers, the Forechecker, Mr. Dirk Hoag.
