Vancouver Canucks announce team awards; Hughes named top defenceman, Miller wins two awards

The Vancouver Canucks announced their team awards Wednesday afternoon. Among them, J.T. Miller won two awards and Quinn Hughes was named the teams top defenceman.

Jacob Markstrom won the team’s MVP award as voted by fans. He posted a 23-17-4 record and a .918 save percentage.

Alex Edler was the first-ever recipient of the new Daniel and Henrik Sedin Award for community leadership. He hosted the “Eagles Nest” program for the course of the last four seasons where he gave four tickets and a post-game meet and greet following each home game, among others.

Miller, meanwhile, won the Cyrus H. McLean Trophy scoring for leading the team in points with 72. Fans also voted for him as the team’s “Unsung Hero” awarding him the Fred J. Hume award.

Rounding out fan voting was Elias Pettersson who won the Pavel Bure Award as the teams Most Exciting Player with Hughes taking the Walter (Babe) Pratt Trophy for top rearguard.
