The Canucks suffered a disappointing 5-1 loss at home to the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday night, falling to 2-4-1 over their last seven games in the process. To help with the battle for a playoff spot, Vancouver made a splash before the trade deadline in acquiring forward Tyler Toffoli from the Los Angeles Kings. Vancouver is hoping that Toffoli can fill the hole on offence left by Brock Boeser’s potentially season-ending rib injury. Toffoli joins his former Kings linemate Tanner Pearson on the Canucks.

With Sunday’s loss, Vancouver fell to 2-2 in its last four games at home since going 9-0 in its previous nine games at home per the OddsShark NHL Database.

Minnesota parted ways with head coach Bruce Boudreau on the day after a 4-3 shootout loss last Thursday. It was strange timing for the firing as the Wild were on a 7-3-1 run over their last 11 games, but overall it has been a disappointing season for the team as the Wild are on pace to miss the playoffs with a 27-24-7 record. Interim coach Dean Evason picked up a loss in his first game as head coach with Minnesota losing 2-0 at home to San Jose on Saturday.

Wednesday night’s total is set at six goals at online sports betting sites. The OVER is 5-1 in Vancouver’s last six home games against the Wild.

Less than two months remain in the regular season and the Pacific Division is still totally up for grabs with five teams all entering Wednesday night’s action within two points of each other. The Canucks grabbed one of the most coveted targets of this trade deadline in Toffoli and are hoping that the former King can help them separate from the rest of the pack out West.
