Canucks at Blackhawks 03/18/19 – Odds and NHL Betting Trends

by OddsShark (@OddsShark)Sponsored Post

The OVER has been the trend to watch for bettors when the Vancouver Canucks take on the Chicago Blackhawks in recent years. Those teams square off in Chicago on Monday, with the Blackhawks favored on the NHL betting lines at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

Chicago is the -180 betting favorite (wager $180 to win $100) for Monday’s contest, with Vancouver the +145 underdog (wager $100 to win $145) and the OVER/UNDER set at six goals. And the OVER has paid out for bettors in each of the last eight games between the Hawks and Canucks dating to November 2016, according to the OddsShark NHL Database.

That includes the most recent meeting between the teams, a 4-3 Chicago victory in overtime as a -140 home betting favorite on February 7. Jonathan Toews had the winner in overtime in that contest, with Alex DeBrincat (with two) and Brandon Saad scoring the team’s other three goals. Alex Biega, Josh Leivo, and Elias Pettersson had the goals for Vancouver on the day.

That victory broke a five-game losing streak for the Blackhawks against the Canucks, with Vancouver topping Chicago 4-2 as +110 home underdogs in the first meeting of the season between the teams on October 31. Vancouver was a perfect 3-0 against Chicago last year.

The Canucks were in Dallas on Sunday night to face the Stars as +175 road underdogs and pulled out a 3-2 shootout victory. Tim Schaller had both goals for Vancouver on Sunday, his first two tallies of the season, while Jacob Markstrom made 44 saves to pick up the victory.

Chicago has won five games in a row heading into Monday night, beating the Canadiens in Montreal 2-0 as +135 underdogs on Saturday night behind a 48-save shutout performance from Corey Crawford. Connor Murphy and Brendan Perlini had the goals in that Chicago win. Despite the hot stretch, though, the Blackhawks remain outside the Western playoff picture.

  • Braindead Benning

Can’t wait to see Debrincat pop a few goals..
Nice that the Canucks have Pearson and his 4 million contract instead of McCann and the Debrincat on entry level contracts…

  • Braindead Benning

Oh God I Must be braindead when I look at former 1st at 22 year old who is a 3rd line centre that plays the PK and end of game situations with 31 points
    And the 33rd pick
Debrincat with 71 points in 71 Games

Both on ELC and we have Sutter and Beagle… Who take up roughly 7 Mil with whooping point total of 16..and both players are into their twilight years…

Man I can’t even begin to Comprehend how this regime is still around

  • Bud Poile

The Gillis gel boys still circle jerking each other as Pettersson sets the rookie record and the Canucks take it to Chicago.
Crawford has played lights out or this game would be embarrassing for Chicago.

    • Bud Poile

The Canucks just beat the Hawks-out hit,out chanced, outscored, trounced in the circle -all with a rookie goalie in net.
The Hawks have the best record in 2019 and the Canucks won.
Looks good on you two gel boys.
