You have to hand it to those flame fans. They sure took more of their share of seasons beatings in those videos provided. To have ship rubbed in their faces all those years, and still come back for more. That’s sticktoitiveness at an unprecedented rate.

They have every right to be bitter and angry at the Oilers decades later. Those poor bastages. I’m sure it wasn’t easy watching the Oilers hoist the Stanley Cup 5 times, compared to their one fluke. Cruel and unusual punishment in anyones books.

Do Oilers fans troll Canuck pages or flame pages and write immature things about their teams? I hope not, I certainly don’t. Thats the difference between Edmonton fans and flames/canucks fans, we have class. Are Edmontonians better people than Calgarians or Vancouverites? It is a possibility.

The nice thing about being an Oilers fan is that we have loads of talent and are trending upwards. VAN and CGY are hurting teams with not much to look forward to in the future, so by all means if it makes you feel good to write negative comments, continue to do so. It only epitomizes what the rest of the country already thinks about Flames/Canucks fans and just makes you look pathetic.

    Cheers

It’s posts like this that make us Oiler fans look foolish. We aren’t ‘better’ than anyone.

I live in Van and find Canuck fans fickle and delusional, can’t stand them. Though this guy needs to get off the high horse. They can cheer and have their point of view.

There are clowsn in any city, Edmonton included. I’ve lived in all three cities and they have their own merits. Leave it on the ice.

Lastly, Go Oilers! (Flames/Nucks stink like poo!)

      1) Cross-nation post. No one’s trolling “Oilers’ pages” get over it. And yes, for the record, we do get Oilers’ fans trolling Flames/Canucks pages. Classier/better people? I wouldn’t get carried away there bud.

      2) From a purely results-based analysis, are the Oilers’ trending upwards? In what way? I thought they were “ready to compete” last year? Two years ago? 2011? No? Sure, they have good, young players, who have done little-to-nothing in terms of creating a successful team.

I forwarded the article about Canucks impending mediocrity to a Vancouver friend. He replied – “I would find this funny if we had won at least one cup.”

Our run in 2006 was a blast, not winning was really painful, but I can’t even imagine the pain you canuckleheads must feel. You should have won at least one with this last team. You were so much better than the rest of the league in the regular season for a few years there.

    and now… mediocrity. retooling. rebuilding.

The team you had was magical – peak sedins, kesler, incredible depth on D, goaltending, coaching…

and now… missing the playoffs. thinking about the draft. dumping talent.

welcome back to hell. nice to see you again.

Hell? Odd term considering the Canucks will still be better than any of the Alberta teams. Coilers are on a decade long rebuild and that’s just to sniff the playoffs again. The Flamers have a relic at the helm and want to ice a goon squad – OLD TIME HOCKEY! Alberta – where they produce fine NHL golfers.

I am typing this post very, very slowly because if you are a Flames fan, you are probably reading it out loud and may need help with all the big words from an adult with all of their original teeth (such as your brother/uncle or your sister/cousin).

We’ve been higher than your team and we’ve been lower than your team, but all that it proves is that you can’t win like a champion and you can’t even fail with any gusto… you guys are just tweeners and that’s the worst place to be.

    • My brother/uncle/sister/cousin’s/former roomate was having trouble with this word… “tweener”… we just don’t git it. So it’s better to remain consistently bad? I was under the impression that a miserable failure is a failure regardless of how much gusto you think you have…

You know, when my short Calgarian attention span can focus on last year’s standings for long enough to find where both the Oilers and Flames are situated, I still somehow find enough of my original teeth to work out a smile…

These aren’t the Flames of three years ago buddy. They have some decent youth coming through the system. Add in an expected high pick next draft, and they will have a very nice group of two way centres in a year or two.

And at least the Flames earned some respect for their hard work last year, unlike Edmonton. Remember the 8 to 1 drumming last year? And how could you forget the infamous jerey toss?

And Calgary has won a championship. They carved out some history from the Oilers in the 80’s. But guess what? Championships from 20 – 30 years ago dont mean anything today. I dont put much stock into Stanley Cups won before the leauge was competetive as it is now.
