Sticktap SA2 for the tip.

Today at Canucks Army we reacted to the Dallas Eakins hire, looked at the upcoming deadline for the Canucks to figure out where to park their AHL affiliate, and plotted ways to fill Vancouver’s need in the middle of their fourth line. Also, there’s only one week remaining to enter the CanucksArmy Gear T-Shirt Design Contest, check out the rules and the submissions we’ve recieved so far!

On Friday there was a Swedish report contending that UMass-Lowell defender Christian Folin was close to signing a two-year entry level contract with the Vancouver Canucks. Well it turns out that might not happen after all. [Pass it to Bulis]

To the surprise of no one it appears that winger Mason Raymond has played his last game in a Canucks uniform, according to the News1130 Sports twitter feed. Raymond never refound his form after the gruesome injury he suffered in the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals, and hopefully he benefits from a change of scenery. Other nuggets from the 1130 feed include the news that the agent for forward and restricted free-agent Dale Weise, who has arbitration rights this summer, will meet with the team on draft weekend. Also the Canucks and Chris Tanev haven’t begun negotiating on the terms of his next contract, which is tough, because the team will assume a lot of risk if they don’t lock Tanev up prior to the draft.

The Iron Sheik versus Roberto Luongo:

If round two is anywhere near as good as round one, well, you best grab some popcorn!

The Sedin twins chatted contract extension among other things on the Team 1040 today, the Province’s White Towel blog has a partial transcript. I’m curious to see if the Sedins are extended this summer, or if they do the Mats Sundin/Joe Sakic thing and go year-to-year after their current deals expire.

The guys at Nucksmisconduct are despondent about a Blackhawks, Bruins Stanley Cup Final series and who can blame them?

Good for Folin, if he’s not signing (yet) because he wants to finish school, I got to respect that decision. It’s not something that you seem too much of.

While the Sedins are exceptional human beings and very good hockey players, is there really any urgency to extend them this offseason?

The Sedins give every impression that the Canucks are far and away their first choice. At the same time, they will be 34 when their next contracts begin.

It seems like there is little upside to working out extensions this summer. Vancouver is where the Sedins want to be. Might as well exploit that and let the season play out.

Not really happy with how slowly Gillis is going about our RFA resignings. We have two key RFAs in Schroeder and Tanev who we need to lock up, and he decides his priority is to make sure Sestito is a Canuck for the next two years?

Strange re Christian Folin. I put the “Pass it to Bulis” article on the Canucks Forum. The Canucks management put a lock on it. Similarly when I made mention of an AIK player Mattias Janmark-Nylen it was taken down by the ‘Nucks If nothing else at least you know they’re monitoring the forum pretty closely. Some seem to think the Edler trade depends on if Folin plays here
