Juice getting some shap from the bench after scoring.
But he looks really pissed off about it. Meh - that's Bieksa for ya!

Game Day Recon: Game #35 - Flames @ Canucks
The Vancouver Canucks get a bit of an early Christmas present tonight. If they earn a single point tonight, the Canucks will take over the Northwest Division lead, and will vault into 2nd place in the Western Conference, right behind their bitter rival, the Chicago Blackhawks. And the gift comes in the form of the Calgary, against whom the Canucks are 9-0-1 in their last 10 games.

(Jimmy Howard loves Jannik Hansen by now)
After a 4-0 win against "division-leading" Minnesota on Monday night, the Canucks took to the ice against an actual good team, something they hadn't done since they beat San Jose on the 26th of November (the team went 7-3 during their cupcake schedule period) so a test against the Detroit Red Wings was definitely something the team probably needed.
And, as expected, it didn't matter how little the Canucks have been tested lately, since they controlled the game in the early going, and then shut down the play late, allowing goaltender Roberto Luongo to shine, make 38 stops, and the Canucks picked up a real marginal insurance short-handed goal on their way to a 4-2 victory.

This is a weekly feature that will highlight The Good, The Bad and The *fill in the blank* exciting things that are currently happening in the NHL. Did Kevin Bieksa get an endorsement deal with a manufacturer of rare titanium hockey sticks? Did Ron MacLean and Mark Messier take off their Grinch outfits? Did Sidney Crosby secretly retire? Hockey is full of all sorts of unknown mysteries.

Back in early November, I (figuratively) handed out some hardware to Canuck players. Some of the “trophies” awarded were more serious than others. At the time, the Canucks were hovering around the .500 mark, thanks to sluggish starts from a few key players. Since then, they have been on a tear, thanks to said players playing much, much better. Cory Schneider channelling Dominik Hasek for a few weeks didn’t hurt, either. Why don’t we hand out some more awards that are completely made up and mean absolutely nothing!

(Moscow native Andrey Osadchenko wanted to weigh in on the recent "Ovechkin on Steriods" controversy)
If you read John Steigerwald’s column about Ovechkin’s alleged steroid use and you listened to him argue with Ryan Lambert on the radio show about it and your initial reaction wasn’t ‘Wow!’ you are not an easy person to impress.
