We interrupt our usual programming to bring you a major announcement from our humble hockey blog!
Canucks Army and the Nation Network would like to formally welcome Canucks Army's newest contributor, Vancouver's own Jeff Paterson! Jeff is a credentialed Canucks reporter for the Team 1040, he contributes a weekly Canucks column for the Georgia Straight, and his work can occasionally be found on Canucks.nhl.com.
Jeff's first Canucks Army post will debut on the site on Wednesday, and from then on, look for his stuff regularly because he'll be posting two or three times per week. We're extremely excited to be adding a writer with Jeff's experience and perspective to the staff, and we look forward to bringing you his near daily observations about the team.
With Paterson on board, Canucks Army will now have a guy at the rink for Canucks practices and home games. It's a major step towards providing our audience with a type of independent Canucks news coverage unseen elsewhere in the Canucks blogosphere. In this space, Jeff will be filing stories from the rink as well as sussing out wider trends surrounding the team. We're extremely excited to be combining Jeff's unique insight and access, with our customary irreverence and detailed quantitative analysis.
It's a new day for Canucks Army folks. Make sure to follow Jeff on twitter: @patersonjeff.

Captain Kirk is angry today. And so am I.
Photo courtesy some Star Trek episode or movie or whatever.
Today I continue my weekly feature of me venting and raging on stupid crap happening with the Canucks, their fans and around the NHL. Two things about feature... 1) It will appear (hopefully) every Monday, and 2) It is blatantly ripped off from a stand-up bit from comedian Craig Anton. On either point, I make no apologies. Enjoy. Or don't.
This week, I spit on the ground in front of ASG over-analysis, lazy reporting (Hi Spec!), and signing goons in today's NHL.

Hodgson and Malhotra are pals, not interchangeable pieces.
According to senior Sportsnet columnist Mark Spector, Canucks prospect Cody Hodgson has walked away with Manny Malhotra’s job. Is this true?

It was all Edmonton all the time on all-star Saturday. Lowetide was visited by Terry Jones, Dennis King, Jim Byers and Corey Graham to talk about everything from the major league Oilers to minor league Oil Kings.
This is Nation Radio.

Tim Thomas' week isn't what he thought it would be, apparently.

Bruins' goalie Tim Thomas says he doesn't think he should be answering questions about why he didn't go to the White House. He says his teammates shouldn't be brought into the equation, nor should his family. On the latter point, he has this writer's support. Thomas' family life really nothing to do with this. On the rest, he's wrong.
