The San Jose Sharks are going to be one of the best teams in hockey this season and will probably win the Pacific Division. Like the Vancouver Canucks, they had tonnes of regular season success between lockouts. Like the Vancouver Canucks, they won an infinite number of Presidents' Trophies more than Stanley Cups during that span. Unlike the Vancouver Canucks, the Sharks landed two exceptional talents out of the Entry Draft and have been able to rebuild on the fly.

Also, there's rumblings about a third draftee. Maybe you've heard about him, if you'd watched Sportscentre or Connected this week, turned on a radio or done so much as boot up your computer. Yes, unless you have been sitting on the couch staring at a blank TV screen for the last two days, or been comatose, you have heard about Tomas Hertl.

I WATCH THE GAMES!!!!1

If you're a regular reader here at Canucks Army, you are likely familiar with most of the new stats that we use to analyze players and games. Due to popular demand Draft Street is back on the Nations. We ran some Free Rolls for DS last year and got some really good feedback, so we approached them about getting this going again for us again this year. They finally acquiesced when I threatened to send Wanye to their house with a bullhorn and a clown costume.

In case you missed it last night, the Canucks won their third game in a row (and second consecutive game in overtime) when they beat the New Jersey Devils by a score of 3-2. While large chunks of the game were fairly evenly played, it was a dominant 2nd period showing, and some fortunate breaks, that propelled the Canucks to victory on Tuesday night.

Read on past the jump for the scoring chance totals, and a few other numbers-based thoughts.

Canucks Postgame: Luongos beat Schneiders in Overtime

There was a lot of talk heading into Tuesday night's Devils-Canucks game about Cory Schneider and Roberto Luongo. Those guys will, for better or for worse, be linked to each other for a long time to come. Whenever one guy does very well or very poorly, people will make jokes suggesting that the Canucks should've stuck with the other guy. That's a foregone conclusion.

So the 3-2 overtime win by the Canucks surely didn't do anything do change that, especially since it's just one game, and both guys played very well. But what it did do was provide the Canucks with 2 needed points in the standings - with the schedule about to get tougher, it was nice to bank a 3rd straight victory - and a much better all-around performance to build off of.

Read on past the jump for a quick recap of the game.
