Canucks Army Postgame: Anaheim Keslers Lose to Vancouver Spare Parts

Vancouver entered tonight with the hopes of making good on the final leg of their California road trip. Going 2-1-0 in three trips to California would go a long way in validating this franchises belief in themselves as a playoff team. Beyond that, using a victory over Ryan Kesler and the Anaheim Ducks to tilt the needle above .500 would surely be icing on the cake for a team that so desperately needs to find positives after their 5-1 shellacking at the hands of the Los Angeles Kings just one night earlier.

It took a weathered storm in the first, a draw in the final two periods and a series of posts in the shootout to do it, but they left Anaheim with the victory. Read past the jump for a full recap.

Canucks Army GDT #15 - Canucks @ Ducks

Vancouver is in Orange County tonight to face the Anaheim ducks for the first time since the big trade in the Summer that sent Ryan Kesler to Anaheim for Nick Bonino, Luca Sbisa, and Jared McCann. While this game won't settle who won the trade, or anything in the grand scheme of an 82-game NHL season, a win tonight would go a long way to salvaging some of the goodwill lost with back-to-back poor efforts against San Jose and Los Angeles.

Standing in their way are the NHL-leading Anaheim Ducks, who, even without Corey Perry, will be a tough opponent on the second half of a back-to-back. Read past the jump for a preview.

Canucks Army GDT #14 - Canucks @ Kings

After escaping Northern California with a stolen two points, Vancouver is back in action tonight looking to avoid a moral victory against the L.A. Kings. The Canucks enter L.A. with a 10-4-0 record, and just two points back of the Anaheim Ducks for 1st place in the entire NHL. A win over the always tough Kings tonight will set up a first-place showdown with the Ducks tomorrow, so Vancouver should be motivated to come out and put forth a better effort than Thursday night in San Jose.

Read past the jump for a preview of tonight's action.
