In the second period of Saturday night's 4-1 Vancouver Canucks victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs, Canucks forward Zack Kassian lost his damn mind.

The burgeoning power forward was attempting to get to Dion Phaneuf and fight him, but a linesman all but wrestled him to the ground. Not that it stopped Kassian from pursuing the fight. Did Kassian pursue the fight with too much verve? Could he be facing an automatic suspension as a result?

Let's get into it on the other side of the jump.

With Alex Burrows out of the lineup for Saturday night's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, other Vancouver Canucks players were spiritually tasked with stepping up their trolling game. The usually mild mannered Jannik Hansen proved up to the task.

After exchanging cross checks with Maple Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf Hansen went to great lengths to very strongly imply that Phaneuf turtled during an early exchange with Zack Kassian. It would seem that Vancouver Canucks forward Alex Burrows needed more than a maintenance day.

Burrows, 33, is unlikely to play on Saturday when the Canucks host the moribund Toronto Maple Leafs as a result of an undisclosed injury, according to TSN's Jeff Paterson. The fear now is that Burrows has reaggravated the lower-body injury that caused him to miss six games earlier this month.

Why undrafted free agent Ashton Sautner is an intriguing gamble for the Canucks

On Friday evening, the Canucks unexpectedly dipped into the CHL free agent pool, landing Edmonton Oil Kings captain and second leading defensive scorer Ashton Sautner to a three-year entry level contract.

Sautner, 20, was a major contributor to Edmonton's Memorial Cup run last season, playing a top-four role on the best puck possession team in the entire CHL, and now has two consecutive very strong WHL seasons under his belt.

Still, Sautner is an over-age player this season, and we know that 20-year olds playing in a teenager's league generally look better than they actually turn out to be, so he's an interesting gamble for Jim Benning to make.

So what do the Canucks have in Sautner? Read past the jump to find out.

There aren't a ton of games to really get up for lately in Vancouver, but anytime the grammatically incorrect Leafs roll into town it's must see TV. I personally will have my "Leafs Suck" button on as I cheer on Vancouver and so help me if the basement dwelling buds don't disappoint.
