Will the Canucks fare better this season at the 20-game mark?

(In full disclosure, I wrote this article Thursday afternoon, before the Canucks opening game.)
Will the Vancouver Canucks win the Northwest Division for the fourth straight year? Probably. Will the win the Western Conference? Maybe. Will they get back to the Stanley Cup Final? Will they win it all? The odds are against them. With the exception of the Northwest crown (which is practically a given), the rest are predictions that are too hard to make.
Instead I am going to focus on some predictions for the Canucks that have more of a chance of actually happening. Because, frankly, I'm not that smart and this is easier.

CanucksArmy continues its short series where we preview the Northwest Division by position. Today we go to the blue line and look at the defencemen from each team.
Is it just me or did every defensive group in the Northwest Division get a little bit weaker over the summer? The Avs, Canucks and Wild have all lost key members of their defence in the last 6 months, the Oilers start the season with huge injury concerns, and the Flames blue-line has lost another core component. How will these five teams cope with their blue-line losses? In my estimation, only one will weather the storm. For the rest, it will be a rough ride this year...

Will the Canucks lead the league in offence again this year?
If this guy has a dominant season - they may.

CanucksArmy rolls out a short series where we preview the Northwest Division by position. Today we start up front and look at the forwards from each team:
The Vancouver Canucks were the league's highest scoring team last season, thanks to a potent power play and a career year from Ryan Kesler and Daniel Sedin. The Oilers boast some young, exciting talent but were unable to score enough last year, especially on home ice. The Calgary Flames and their veteran lineup led the league in goals at home and were a potent force offensively all year. The Avalanche used to be able score with anybody, but continuing to do so this season after the incredible amount of turnover their roster has gone through could be an issue. As for the Wild.... Sorry, I passed out from boredom for a second, but yeah, as for the Wild - they've renovated their forward group entirely - could they be an offensive force this season? *suppresses laughter*

This week's entry features some thumbs up to current members of the Canucks. Because let's face it - I'm an unabashed Canucks fanboy. Squeeeeee! I HOPE RYAN KESLER RT'S ME!!!!!1
