Today at CanucksArmy we kept pace with coaches week and profiled Guy Boucher, we also talked about the draft and some of the new devices in the CBA available to Mike Gillis should he choose to rather dramatically remake the Canucks roster, finally we passed along the Bob McKenzie report that the Islanders might be interested in acquiring Roberto Luongo, and touched on Dreger's take on Luongo's value, and whether or not the star goaltender would even report to Canucks training camp if he weren't moved this summer.

In the immediate wake of the explosive Roberto Luongo to the New York Islanders rumour proferred on Twitter by Bob McKenzie on Thursday afternoon, McKenzie's TSN colleague Darren Dreger joined Dave Naylor and Steve Simmons on Toronto's TSN 1050 sports talk radio station to further flesh out the topic (you can listen to his segment here).
Darren Dreger has been especially bearish on Roberto Luongo's trade value throughout this saga, and while that's bothered some Canucks fans (who like to bring up Dreger's familial relationship with Dave Nonis as a reason to be skeptical of his reporting), it's tough to argue that Dreger's perspective on this process hasn't been completely vindicated by the events of last summer, last season, and the trade deadline.
On Thursday, Dreger suggested that Roberto Luongo wouldn't even report to Canucks training camp if the team failed to move him this summer. Dreger further opined that even though the Islanders "make some sense" as a Luongo destination, the latest rumour is "more the Vancouver Canucks angling, trying to create, invent a market" for Roberto Luongo's services.

Okay everybody, dust off your Rick DiPietro jokes and load up the capgeek.com/Islanders page because we've got ourselves a live one. According to TSN's Bob McKenzie it's concievable that Garth Snow and the New York Islanders might have interest in a Roberto Luongo trade "under the right circumstances."
Yes "under the right circumstances" is a vague, catch all qualifier but still, this is a big nugget about a potential Roberto Luongo deal from the godfather of hockey coverage. So obviously we'll talk about it at greater length on the other side of the jump.

With the Red Wings falling short against the Chicago Blackhawks in game seven of the Western Conference Semifinal series which was completed on Wednesday, the NHL's final four is set. Also set as a result of Wednesday night's thrilling game seven? Vancouver's place in the 2013 NHL Draft order.
At the 2013 NHL draft in Newark, the Canucks will select a draft eligible player 24th overall in the first round, and then again with the 85th pick of the draft, the 115th pick, the 145th pick, the 175th pick, and finally the 205th pick in the seventh round. But more important than any prospects whom the Canucks might select, are the opportunities presented to them exclusively at the draft to improve the team through trades and creative manipulation of the new collective bargaining agreement (which of course we haven't seen yet).
