You Know What I Hate?! - March 12th

This chess-playing kid is angry. And so am I.  Do people really get that angry playing chess?
Or did this kid's opponent spill his unflavoured almond milk or something.

Today I continue my weekly feature of me venting and raging on stupid crap happening with the Canucks, their fans and around the NHL. Two things about feature... 1) It will appear (hopefully) every Monday (this week, Tuesday!), and 2) It is blatantly ripped off from a stand-up bit from comedian Craig Anton. On either point, I make no apologies. Enjoy. Or don't.

This week, I deliver an illegal, unpunished hit to the Canucks disappearing "core", the red line, and suddenly sympathetic Bruins fans.

Walking past the rich history of horrendous Vancouver sweaters, Roberto Luongo
takes on his hometown Habs tonight - a team with an ACTUAL history of winning.
Just, uh, not lately.

Game Day Recon: Game #69 - Canadiens @ Canucks

The Vancouver Canucks are mired in the doldrums of their regular season. With so little on the line right now for the team (the Northwest Division crown is all but guaranteed, and they've got a sizable lead on whoever wins the Pacific) they're playing for pride. Which, they finally showed some of on Thursday, though it doesn't mean this slump is in the rearview mirror. After all, even when they handily outplayed Winnipeg at home on Thursday, they were still only able to escape with a one-goal win.

Then along comes the woeful Montreal Canadiens. Injured, unlucky, but most awful, the Habs limp into Rogers Arena just trying to play out this regrettable and forgettable season while dreams of Nail Yakupov dance in their head.

With so many Canucks looking to break out of slumps... is THIS finally the game the team finally retrieves their offensive panache?

The Good and the Bad of this past week.

It's Friday. So we close out the "Week That Was" with our latest volume of... "Cheers and Jeers!"

This week, I hold hands in a bike lane with Dave Pratt and You Can Play, while St. Paddy's Day NHL gear and the lack of a Shanaban are so bad they should relocated to Glendale.

Game Day Recon: Game #67 - Stars @ Canucks

The Canucks and Stars will get very familiar with each other over the next few weeks. After going an entire calendar year between confrontations, the Stars and Canucks play all four games of their season series in a 34-day span. Game 1 went 10 days ago, and the Canucks will be eager to get some retribution on the scoreboard, after losing only their second game of the season when leading after 40 minutes.

But the Canucks have quite a challenge in front of them tonight - the Dallas Stars are the hottest team in the West. Sounds familiar, doesn't it? The Canucks face another hottest team and try to reclaim top spot in the league. Again.
