It's that time of the year, when Santa Claus goes down all the chimneys and delivers goodies to all the girls and boys. Many will remember the days when you would wake up, go downstairs and see the new hockey jersey sitting under the tree. Every hockey fan has a couple that they wish they could have, so which one's would be on your list this year? I asked our writers, and our readers!

These were their responses.

As you all know, tonight is Mattias Ohlund Ring of Honour night at Rogers arena, and it's well deserved. People (rightfully so) like to rag on the Canucks for their honoured players to cup rings ratio, but I think the Ring of Honour is a good place to recognize some of the finest players to don a Canucks uniform. Mattias Ohlund wasn't the flashiest player by any stretch of the imagination. You won't find him in many highlight reels in spite of his lengthy career. All the same, Ohlund's stamp on the Vancouver Canucks history cannot be — and should not be — understated.

Something tells me Ohlund doesn't mind that, either. He epitomized stability on the Canucks blue line. Ohlund was reliable, physical and flew under the radar most nights. Still, it didn't take long for Ohlund to achieve league-wide recognition. In Ohlund's second season in the NHL, he played in the All-Star Game as a replacement. He's won Olympic Gold wearing the Tre Kronor for Sweden, too.

By the time Ohlund left Vancouver, he was the leading producer in Canucks blueline history. And he was my favourite Canuck. Tonight the Canucks honour that career. Ohlund joins the likes of Orland Kurtenbach, Pat Quinn and Kirk McLean in the Ring of Honour, and he couldn't deserve it more if he tried.
