The NHL trade deadline is less than a week away, which makes this the perfect time to take stock of what's in the organisation's cupboards. Break out the balance sheet and see where to add, subtract, etc. to balance the depth.
The Canucks have quickly built depth at the centre position, with quite a few being able to play on the wing as well. At centre they have Henrik Sedin, Bo Horvat, Jared McCann, Brandon Sutter, Markus Granlund, Linden Vey and Adam Cracknell available to them, barring health concerns - as in the case of Sutter and Vey.

Looks like the Vancouver Canucks have jumped into the trading waters, and not in a good way.
The Canucks have traded Hunter Shinkaruk to the Calgary Flames in exchange for Markus Granlund. Where do we even begin?
Well it was first reported by Aj Jakubec who Play by Play/host at TSN 1200 Radio Ottawa.
Hearing Canucks & Flames have completed a deal. Markus Granlund to VAN. Hunter Shinkaruk to CGY. Not sure what else is involved. #NHL— AJ Jakubec (@AJonSports) February 22, 2016

Weeks are flying by as we inch closer to the trade deadline and the playoff push that follows. The KHL season is nearing its end, while the NCAA is only a few short weeks away from starting regional playoffs.
Let's take a look at all the Canucks prospects in this week's edition of Blackfish: Canucks Army Prospect Report.
February 17 2016 02:25PM
Earlier today on TSN 1040, Canucks goaltending prospect Thatcher Demko was on the afternoon show with Matthew Sekeres and Blake Price. It was your usual prospect interview, covering how his season was going, what is he doing to be so successful and even joked about his 4 losses this season. They also covered the very important issue of 'How does someone from San Diego adapt to the cold weather in the North East?'
Joking aside, it covered a wide array of topics that provided some insight into who Demko is as a person and hockey player.
They also covered the Hobey Baker award, that Demko is currently leading in fan vote.
Everything was going fine in the interview until Blake Price mentioned Jimmy Vesey, a Nashville Predator prospect who may end up holding out to get UFA status and thus brought up contract status of the prized Canucks goaltending prospect.

Craig Button of TSN released his Top 50 NHL-affiliated prospects with Thatcher Demko and Brock Boeser making an appearance in the Top 20. That isn't overly surprising. Both have had very good seasons in the NCAA and look to be well on track to developing into NHL talent - albeit, at different stages in their development.
Button also included the Top 5 prospects for each of the Canadian teams with Tate Olson making a somewhat surprising appearance above players with a higher draft pedigree.
