We at Canucks Army take a whole lot of pride in being right about things, but it's also extremely important to acknowledge when you are wrong - otherwise, you'll be doomed to make the same mistakes in the future.

We are certainly learning, and it narrowly stopped us from making the same mistake twice. We panned the Gaudette pick in 2015, and after a great freshman year at Northeastern, we had to admit we were wrong. That's why even though we were plenty skeptical about the selection of Will Lockwood in 2016, we figured we'd better give the Canucks' USHL scouting staff the benefit of the doubt.

And as it turns out, that was the right choice to make, because just seven months after being drafted, Lockwood is looking like a pretty great pickup. He checks in at #8 on our Midterm Prospect Rankings.

Andrey Pedan has done plenty of travelling this season between the NHL and the American League, although he's only managed to play games in the latter league. I had hoped that he would start the year with the team, considering him better than some of their other options, and advocated strongly against waiving the 22-year defenceman.

But the Canucks waived him anyways, and he went unclaimed. No harm done.

However, Pedan has since been recalled three times, and although Willie Desjardins hasn't inserted him into an lineup yet, the Canucks are about to run out of time and have to make a decision on whether to keep Pedan - or they'll have to risk exposing him on waivers for the second time this season.

It's been a little less than a month since our last Consolidated Rankings were published, but six of the eight list makers have put out new rankings, and there has been plenty of movement already. The World Junior Championships also took place in that time frame, and as that's one of the most important events of the season for draft eligible prospects, it factors heavily in the perception of many of the players.

Let's take a look at the potential first round of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, as it looks in mid-January.
