One look at the standings today and its plain as day, the Canucks let a big lead get away from them. However, cheering for the Canucks as long as I have or you have will show that it's always been done this way: difficult and agonizing.
The Canucks head to the land of BBQ ribs, brisket and basically any meal that begs for BBQ sauce: St. Louis; a road city most welcome. Vancouver's road record is pretty good this year (22-12-3) and with the Canucks taking the last two games against the Blues, tonight should follow suit. After losing to the Stars in OT on Saturday, every point is crucial with LA and Calgary breathing down the Canucks neck. Their breath is stinky like no breakfast, 2 coffees, no brushing teeth breath. It's bad. They need some distance.

It's been a few days since we all demanded that all the Millionaires jerseys be burned in the middle Library Square. Losing to the Avs wasn't fun and didn't help the Canucks efforts to make the playoffs. Today is a new day and a new opponent. The Dallas Stars are in town on the second half of a back to back (heard this before?) after losing to the Edmonton Oilers 4-0.
Dallas actually was flying last night but it was just another example of not being able to buy a goal. The Canucks know that one all too well. So tonight, its the latest edition of the biggest game of the season, its Hockey Night in Canada and a win would be nice.

Cyclone Taylor aka Radim Vrbata coming off a 2 goal performance gets an opportunity to take on gritty forward Gabriel Landeskog tonight as the Millionaires take on the Avs at Rogers Arena. 100 years have passed but the memory of Vancouver's only hockey championship still looms large.
Colorado is coming off a shaming by the Oilers after going down 3 - buzz only to come back and tie it, then lose in regulation to one of the worst collections of NHL, sure we'll call them that, NHL players. The other positive is that it was just last night! That can't feel good going into a building that is hungry for more wins. The Vancouver Millionaires are ready to avenge their last outing against the Sens last year. Very different meaning this year.
7 wins in their last 10, and riding a 3 game winning streak; Things are coming into place for the Canucks at just the right time.

Your Vancouver Canucks are playing some kinda hockey right now.
Kings? Please. Those punks couldn't handle the ferociousness of the orange hot Nucks (because they aren't quite red hot), Yotes? Ya, it's tough playing for nothing but seriously good luck with the McDavid thing. So now it's the Jets? Another team trying to scratch its way into the playoffs?
I'm sorry but NO! WE are trying to scratch in so get your own playoffs. Or alternatively steal Atlanta's playoffs.
Winnipeg is rolling on a five game winning streak, but now they have to go through the Pacific division's #2, #2, #2 team the Vancouver Canucks. In a classic all-Smythe division matchup, there will be no Tie Domi, no Mike Gartner or Bob Essensa, but newbie Tyler Myers and stars Blake Wheeler and Mark Scheifele will be ready to rock. Add in stone cold stopper Ondrej Pavelec and the Canucks will have to work hard for these two points.

So, um, quite a day yesterday hey? Canucks beat the Kings for the first time in what seems like forever, we now ALL hate Bill Simmons, and Eddie Lack revealed himself as a closet Swedish thug - a lot to take in for one afternoon. As big a win as that was, today is no different. The season series favours Arizona 2-1 with each team getting a blowout and then the Coyotes winning in a shootout.
The Arizona Coyotes have been on fire since the All Star break going 2-17-1 in their last 20. Did I say on fire? I meant literally on fire. They've shamed a nation, or at least the 2000 fans that show up nightly. Sadly, Vancouver was one of those wins. We remember that one. It's not throwback night tonight so there shouldn't be any reason the Yotes want to win as they are still a few points behind the Sabres for the best chance at the first overall pick.
