The #Canucks Week in Tweets - March 21st

Hey everyone, welcome to "The #Canucks Week in Tweets!" Every week, I plan on bringing you the best of the Canucks on Twitter, from the reasonable to the totally ridiculous (okay, mostly ridiculous)! If you see a tweet you think should be featured here, get in touch with me at @cullenthecomic!

Mary Ann, I'm sure you're an excellent person and even better Canucks fan, and I hate to tell you this, but you're doing it wrong. Tonight might be an important game for the Canucks to get some mojo back, but do or die games don't exist in March for teams who are leading their division by 9 points. NINE POINTS! Canucks fans read way too much into EVERYTHING, and it's time someone let them know: they're doing it wrong. Congratulations, Mary Ann, for being our official Canucks Army Doing It Wrong Tweet of the Week!

More after the jump!

Canucks Sign Goaltender Joe Cannata

The Canucks announced today that they have signed their 6th round pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, goaltender Joe Cannata to an entry level deal. The deal doesn't come as a surprise, as Lorne Henning told the Vancouver Sun a week ago that the team is "very high on [Cannata] and are in the process right now of trying to sign him." Guess that process if complete then!

Joe Cannata just completed his senior season, in which he nearly carried the Merrimack Warriors to an NCAA tournament berth that ultimately fell short. Cannata's masterful performance this season earned him First Team Hockey East honours. Here's the full press release from Canucks.nhl.com.

Read past the jump for more on Cannata.

Game #73 Preview - Listless In the Madhouse

Dave Bolland has a history of frustrating the Sedins.
Tonight, the Canucks should look to flip the script and generously deploy their Jerk-Puck tactics.

The Canucks, playing for nothing at this late point in the season, have been dogging it of late - possibly by design. As a result, the team has lost five of their last seven and Vancouverites are becoming typically restless. "Vigneault should be fired for putting that figure-skater Mason Raymond in the top-six, and why exactly is Roberto Luongo (the bum!) - who, by the way, is the team's real backup goaltender - starting tonight?"

Yep. You know the drill.

Tonight the Canucks face one of the West's hottest teams in their old arch-nemesis the Chicago Blackhawks. The Blackhawks have been supplanted as the central preoccupation of Canucks fans by the Boston Bruins; while the Blues are steadily climbing up the list of teams Blackhawks fans hate, and are certainly in the same league as the Canucks now. Even if the bloom is off the rivalry rose to some extent - tonight's tilt still promises to be a spirited affair, which would be awesome, since we've only seen the Canucks play a couple of those (the win to snap Detroit's home-ice winning streak, and the 2-0 win over St. Louis) since the All-Star break.

Click past the jump for a more detailed preview, underlying numbers and the three keys to the game.
