Sam Bennett can't do a pull-up. As a result he's going to fall in this year's Pull-Up Draft.

With the much-anticipated NHL entry draft set to take place just a few measly days from now, Cam, Rhys, and I felt the need to sit down and hash things out with a long-form discussion about the prospect profiles we've been running on this platform. We broke down each notable name one by one, frequently getting derailed by the allure of one Nick Ritchie. We can take solace in the reality that it happens to the best of us.

The podcast - which you can stream or download depending on your preference just past the jump - is a strong 80 minutes or so in length, so hopefully it'll help either speed up a slow workday for yourself, or help make that seawall run you feel obligated to do slightly more bearable. You'll understand why we started eating crackers at some point during the episode; it was a grind.

"Grit/heartensity/truculence." Classic.

Because in hockey, there's totally a heart points clock (much like Link has in the Legend Of Zelda) right beneath the shot clock.

Yeah because "dynamic offensive presence" is so much more precise. "He's dynamic" > "He's got heart"?

Sorry, but slamming people for using throwaway lines, then using different ones makes ya look petty.

@GeezMoney

I never said "dynamic offensive presence" was more precise. You put those words in my mouth.

They're both pretty nondescript, really. I'm just personally really tired of the old phrase, "[such and such player] has a big heart." Really? so you personally know this from doing the biopsy where you measured his heart with calipers and confirmed that his heart is, indeed, an additional 10% larger than the average player at his level which leads to what? better circulatory performance, resulting in higher stamina during puck battles?

Caman, that stuff sounds silly. It isn't the '70s anymore. We don't need childish terms like this as crutches, do we? To say we do is as superstitious as saying that the LA Kings won the cup this year because they had all their sticks and skates blessed by both the Pope and the Dalai Lama. Or that they had the power of magic fairy dust on their side. Or that the Rangers were haunted by ghosts and goblins.

You're definitely right in that we don't need these throwaway lines anymore. Who wants to nominate favorites? My favorite of the season was from an episode of the NHL Network's Stanley Cup Final Pregame (I was bored and there was nothing else on, OK?) during the Final. I had the TV running and I remember hearing one of the talking heads say, "How do you quantify Justin Williams? You quantify him as 'clutch.'" Because "clutch," is totally a definitive mathematical quantity with an exact value.

You guys have great insight. This would have been way better if you stayed on topic.

could you guys do the audio in mono? because listening to this with headphones in stereo sucks when Dmitri talks in 1 ear (the other completely silent) and cam talks in the other.

@BuffaloBillsOfHockey

This brings a proper challenge then: how would you describe someone who seems to score a lot when he team needs it most -- during the playoffs?

Justin Williamsing! He's Justin Williamsing allover these playoffs!

Nah. I've got nothing. But you can't say I don't have heart.
