Hockey Night in Canada is back! Sort of! The team plays on the road for the first time this preseason tonight, when they make the short trip to Edmonton. If you'll recall, their last outing - on Wednesday night against the very same Oilers - was a rather unfortunate one, in which they were blitzed early and often.

Read on past the jump for a look at the expected lineup, and some notes in advance of tonight's game.

Broadcast Info:

Puck-drop: 7 PM PST

Television: CBC

Setup:

L1: Higgins-Schroeder-Hansen

L2:Shinkaruk-Horvat-Kassian

L3: Weise-Santorelli-Sestito

L4: Jensen (*)-Gaunce-Lain

P1: Edler-Tanev

P2: Corrado-Alberts

P3: Weber-Sauve

In net: Eddie Lack, Joe Cannata

(s/t to Brad Ziemer).

(*) David Booth was expected to make his first appearance in a game since March 16th. Unfortunately, he left the ice just 5 minutes into the morning skate. It was announced that he experienced groin stiffness (insert your own joke). Nicklas Jensen is expected to replace him in the lineup. On a more positive note, Chris Higgins, Alex Edler, and Jordan Schroeder will in fact be making their preseason debuts. Speaking of debuts, John Tortorella will be making his debut behind the bench tonight.

While many of the regulars that were in the lineup last time out won't be this time around, there's still plenty of intrigue in terms of guys looking to make an impact. As Brad Ziemer wrote (linked below), time is running out for some of the fringe guys to impress the coaching staff. There are only 3 more preseason games following this one, and the regular season is a short 11 sleeps away.

Here's the expected lineup for the Oilers tonight:

Meanwhile, former Canucks backup goaltender Jason LaBarbera will be in net for the Oilers in this one.

As always, I recommend you follow us on Twitter if you'd like some snark with your hockey. We'll try to get a recap up by tomorrow morning, but I can't make any promises. It's Saturday night after all..

Schroeder, Horvat, Santorelli and Gaunce - battle for 3/4C tonight? Guess Richardson already has one of them nailed down.

Tonight's game will be interesting for sure. The last game the announcers had to say "it's only preseason" about 30 times. The Canucks started the game being outshot 9-0 , Luo lost concentration and gave up 4 goals 2 which were weak. I wouldn't worry about this except for the fact that they have been a HUGE problem the last 2 years. I'm also wondering if the goalie pads shrinking may mean Luo let's in a few more softies? I'm hoping he plays solid from here out. Every time I see a performance like the last one I think of Kessler telling his US teammates "Luo is shakey. Fire pucks at him" before the 3 rd period of the gold medal game. If his teammates can tell when he is shakey?? That is not a good sign

@JFR

Luo's 2 weak goals were at chest level. One of the inside of his arm and one to his right. I don't think pads have much to do with that.

Allright a GDB thread(we dont have one up @ ON yet), may be a good thing Lou isnt playing tonite, his last couple of starts vs. oil have been brutal. Like your team we have a few battles for lineup spots on the go 3 fwd and atleast 1 d spot. Should be entertaining tonite and we dont have to listen to your SNP broadcasters(was honestly embarrassing), unfortuneately it is CBC,LOL. Well enjoy and may the Oil only beat you down by a few. CHEERS!!!

Shorthouse and Garrett are so beyond terrible its discusting. Someone should tell them being insanely biased is not a qualification.
