Today at CanucksArmy we looked at the teams need in the middle of their third line, broke down whether or not the Utica Comets represent a long-term solution or a short-term stopgap for the Canucks AHL affiliate franchise and imagined that Canucks might look at a "Team of Rivals" type coaching staff next season.

To find out whether or not Alain Vigneaut smells like the vault, click past the jump.

As former Canucks head-coach Alain Vigneault found out, there's nowhere in the world where you'll find a better golden parachutte than in lower Manhattan. Per Louis Jean, who you might remember first broke the news of Vigneault's firing:

That represents a 200k raise over what Vigneault made last year with the Canucks. Who said it doesn't pay to have your team get swept in the postseason, huh?

From this weekend, Jason Botchford had an excellent take on the prospect of a Tortorella for Vigneault offseason trade between the star crossed, 1994 Stanley Cup rivals the Rangers and the Canucks. [The Province]

Also from this weekend, our thoughts on Alain Vigneault's new job.

The Canucks made the signing of Swedish netminder Joacim Eriksson to a two-year entry level contract (worth the maximum amount allowable according to Jim Jamieson) official today. Tyson Giuriato breaks down Vancouver's asset wealth between the pipes. [Canucks.com]

Brad Ziemer previews the upcoming competition between Eddie Lack and Joacim Eriksson to be Cory Schneider's backup at training camp this fall - all of this of course, assumes that Roberto Luongo is finally, mercifully traded this offseason. Ziemer also gets some choice quotes from Gilman about scouting and acquiring Eriksson, and also chats with Eddie Lack who is spending the summer in Vancouver, and clearly believes his time has come. [Vancouver Sun]

Joacim Eriksson's agent spoke with Rick Dhaliwal of News1130 today, telling him that the Canucks made no guarantees to his client. Also from Dhaliwal, Chris Tanev still hasn't been cleared to skate thanks to his pesky high-ankle sprain, while David Booth (who is battling the same injury) should at least be ready for training camp. Meanwhile Cory Schneider's agent reacted to goaltending coach Rollie Melanson's controversial comments last week with an unequivocal vote of confidence. Schneider's agent is a former National Hockey League goaltender, I might add, so it's fair to say he knows what he's talking about. [@News1130Sports]

Elliotte Friedman reports in his weekly thirty thoughts column that the Canucks are granting John Tortorella a second interview, and will also be interviewing another candidate for a second time this week (believed to be John Stevens). Friedman also quotes Mike Gillis as saying "You better draft centres because it's impossible to get them," which doesn't make sense since Mike Gillis has Zack Kassian on his roster. Maybe this isn't true but I've heard that it's possible to acquire capable young centreman on the trade market in exchange for Zack Kassian... [CBC]

Ben Kuzma drops some interesting insight into the process by which the Canucks parked their AHL affiliate in Utica, New York. [The Province]

CanucksArmy writer Jeff Angus took part in a mock NHL salary arbitration case, and faced off against Brian Burke. /dies of envy [Angus Certified]

Finally tickets are now on sale for the 2013 Young Stars Tournament in Penticton.  Here's a promo video from the mothership. [Canucks.com]

Wow. Well done.
