The jersey above is from the Days of Y'Orr post "Re-imagining the Canucks." Once I got over my knee-jerk reaction to the very idea of letting our mortal enemies re-design the Canucks alternate sweater - I realized I actually like their design quite a bit. Though I tend to agree with the Pez man - the sweater would look better with the Johnny Canuck V logo - green is a hugely under-represented colour in the NHL, so I definitely give this third jersey a passing grade.
Botch writes on the need to acquire second-line help for when Kesler returns, enter Owen Nolan!
Passittobulis has a take on the opportunity afforded Cody Hodgson by Kesler's recent surgery. It's a bit harsh in my view - Hodgson's impressed me in his limited time with the big-club, and his AHL production is more promising than the counting stats indicate. Certainly I see no evidence for calling Cody Hodgson "unmotivated." It's very rare that I disagree this vehemently with the talented Mr. Mooney.
Blast from the past: the Winnipeg Jets have signed Newfoundland native and former Sedin trigger man Jason King to a contract.
Bieksa, Oreskovich and Tanev appeared on TSN's Off the Record yesterday. Oreskovich is surprisingly well-spoken, I thought, and Chris Tanev is way hunkier than my obsessive google-images searching had led me to initially believe.
Gillman and Gillis spoke with Pratt and Taylor yesterday on the TEAM1040 and rejected the idea of a "Finals Hangover" on the grounds that "the team is pissed of." Good to hear.
i don't know how a GM and assistant GM can poo-poo the idea of a cup hangover when they aren't the ones playing the game. 2~ months to recover from that much physical abuse isn't a long time at all.
Did you listen to their segment?
@Thomas Drance
yes, i did. being angry doesn't compensate for being tired/drained.
I think their point about being in better shape to start the season is a legitimate one though.
@Thomas Drance
but then you can say that about other past scf teams which indeed had hangovers.
